The lunch at the local restaurant presented us with another opportunity to try home made herrings, and the star of the lunch:
5 mm slices of pork bellies deep fried in it's own fat, so they crackle on the outside and VERY crisp on the inside!
One eats it with the hands, it used to be "peasants food" but now is getting very popular thanks to children who just adore it.
Beer and aquavit is a perfect match. Reminded me goose "shkvarki",
but much bigger slices.
